Dog walking in Leith

There are many dog walkers promising to give you value for your money in terms of walking your dog yet all too often I see these people take the dogs to the park for only five or ten minutes so they can do their business and leave!

I'm an eighteen year old girl needing to earn some extra cash for college fees and can't think of a more suitable job to do than dog walking.

I am well educated in canine psychology and have worked with Edinburghs dog whisperer Marco Del Valle in learning dog behaviour and psychology.
My own dog Yumi is a Japanese Spitz and has been a pupil of his for a year. She still has problems with social situations with other dogs due to the amount of times she has been attacked but is making considerable progress.

The dogs I walk have varying temperaments and come in all different breeds and sizes. When a new dog enters our walking pack, I ensure that the meeting process is an appropriate one where dogs must identify through the nose before the eyes. ALL dogs will stay on leash and walk side by side in a pack in order to establish trust amongst other dogs aswell as me, the human, and, at all times during our walks, the pack leader. Until that trust is established between the new dog and the other dogs, dogs are not permitted to be offleash. However, if the majority of the pack get on well then they are permitted to exercise off-leash and the ones who are less social and willing to play will stay on-leash.

Nine times out of ten an anti-social dog is not aggressive. They are fearful. That is a weakness to other dogs so they act aggressively to compensate for their vulnerability as fearful dogs are often targets to other, un-balanced dogs. Anti-social dogs must learn to get used to being in the company of other dogs and learn that they are not a threat aswell as trust the human to keep them safe - a major necessity that a pack leader must possess. Negative behaviour towards dogs is corrected and good behaviour is rewarded. Slowly but surely the anti social dog will learn how to be a normal dog amongst dogs and how to be in a pack. There is nothing more rewarding than a reformed dog.

General walking will consist of both playing in the park and walking side by side on main roads, the latter provided that the dogs are of appropriate temperament. Otherwise the side by side walks will be practised in more quiet areas.

I will provide every necessity for the walks such as outdoor toys, bags, treats etc.
If a dog has any specific physical or behavioural problems they must be clear upon booking.
All dogs will have structure and discipline on walks.
I never condone violence or cruelty of any kind, ever.

I walk dogs in the Leith area. Playful activity is in Leith Links and/or Pilrig Park and side by side walks are held in central Leith.
I walk a maximum of four dogs at a time.
£10 per hour - how often and how long is your choice.
On Saturdays from 10am - 12pm walks will be at either Arthur Seat or Portobello Beach.

Hours are:
Mon - Fri 8am - 3pm
Sat - 8am - 5pm.
