Senior Electrical Engineer (Water)
Job Description
As a senior electrical engineer the main duties and responsibilities will be to lead the electrical and ICA design of water and waste water schemes located both in Scotland and potentially elsewhere in the UK and overseas.
Responsibilities include:
- working in multi-disciplinary teams of civil, mechanical, process and electrical/ICA engineers
- successfully delivering project objectives within time and budget
- interacting positively with senior and junior staff alike, as well as within the client environment.
- performing project and programme management duties
- being aware of and understanding the commercial and financial consequences of their actions and the actions of others.
- maintaining a progressive and imaginative approach to work, striving to add value where possible for the benefit of the company and clients.
Typical duties include:
- preparation of, or supervision of preparation of, drawings for plant general arrangements, power single line diagrams, cable block diagrams, instrumentation loop diagrams, P&IDs, control system architecture drawings, and cable, instrument and I/O schedules;
- production of documentation, including user requirement specifications / control philosophies, tender documentation including particular electrical and ICA specifications, schedules of prices and engineer's estimates;
- attendance of factory and site acceptance tests.
- supervision of junior engineers work providing technical and professional guidance to assist their development.
Candidates should be prepared to spend periods working away from base either in client or other offices, or on project sites in the UK or overseas.
Candidate Specification We invite applications from electrical engineers with significant relevant electrical and ICA experience. but you must have significant experience in the water, wastewater or related process industries.
Candidates should:
- be qualified to degree level and hold chartered status with a relevant institution, or offer experience equivalent to that required to achieve chartered status.
- have the ability to undertake design work with little supervision and be able to assist in the development of less experienced engineers.
- have good knowledge of their field and be able to advise other disciplines regarding aspects of their design as it impacts electrical engineering issues.
- be able to demonstrate a broad experience in LV and MV distribution systems, motor control centres / control panels, electrical installation, PLCs, control system networking, SCADA and telemetry systems.
