Yoga is probably the world’s most wonderful form of exercise and has a range of benefits to physical, mental & emotional health. Recently ‘US research has found that when muscles are stretched, the nervous system releases endorphins. These create feelings of well-being and contentment.’ Psychologies Magazine. I like what Donna Farhi has said about yoga ‘ yoga is not about self-improvement or making ourselves better. It is a process of deconstructing all the barriers we may have erected to prevent us from having an authentic connection with ourselves and with the world.’ The Pilates technique consists of a series of controlled, flowing movements with a primary aim of the exercise to promote stability in the centre of the body. Each movement is carried out with concentration and precision. Yoga will be the main focus with some Pilates support.
