Domestic Abuse Strategy Co-Ordinator
Our client, a major public sector organisation, urgent requires a experienced individual to manage and develop their Domestic Abuse Strategy strategy in both East Lothian and Midlothian.
The main purpose of this job is to support the various existing partnerships that exist to eliminate violence against women, and take a lead role in the development of new services for women, and their children, who are victims of domestic abuse.
Main tasks include:
- Organising, co-ordinating and administering the work of these various forums, group and partnerships that have the common goal of protecting women from violence - contributing to them achieving their various goals.
- Ensure that these groups are kept up to date with changes in legislation and using existing polices to their advantage
- Promote awareness of violence against women in East/Mid Lothian
- Help develop relationships between these and other community groups
- Liaise with agencies, assisting where necessary, with their strategic plans
- Create information systems and ensure that all groups have access to this information
- Contribute to the development, evaluation and quality assurance of training programs across all groups
- Carry out research and consultations on violence against women, including working with victims and giving them the opportunity to work with the partnerships and contribute to new policies
It is essential that for this role you have relevant experience in the field, ideally with Domestic Abuse directly in a strategic sense, although operational experience combined with policy in another area and the willingness to learn can be relevant. Experience can come from a range of Adult/Child protection backgrounds, however you must have an excellent understanding of violence against women issues and excellent interpersonal skills.
Ideally, you will have previous experience of working in the public sector and of a strategic planning process. You own transport is also highly desirable. An enhanced disclosure Scotland check will be required for the successful applicant, which will be at no cost to yourself.
This a temporary position, expected to last at least 6 months initially but could easily be extended well beyond this if suitable funding is approved. This role is also to start ASAP, so if you are interested in being considered please send a copy of your CV.
