Position: Hostel Assistant –Kitchen Porter – Edinburgh Central Youth Hostel

Location: 9 Haddington Place, Edinburgh, EH7 4AL

Hours per week: Up to 40 hours per week. (SYHA reserves the right to ask you to change your normal hours of work, whether temporarily or permanently, according to the needs of the business and it is a condition of your contract of employment that you agree to any such request when reasonably made.)

Salary: £5.89 per hour

Scottish Youth Hostels Association (SYHA) was established in 1931 and has over 40 Youth Hostels in many iconic locations throughout Scotland with circa 300 employees and volunteers.

We are currently seeking to appoint a Hostel Assistant – Kitchen Porter to provide support to the chef in an efficient and effective manner.

Duties will include washing up, keeping hygiene standards high, food preparation, serving and generally assisting with the smooth operation of our busy Restaurant, Bistro and Conference Room. This hostel runs at a high occupancy level and the suitable candidate will have a commitment to high standards of customer service and previous experience in a similar environment.

Applications will be considered favourably from candidates with good basic knowledge of food preparation and a basic food hygiene certificate would be an advantage.
