Working with Hays on an exclusive basis, our client, a respected Public Sector organisation based in Edinburgh are now in a position to recruit an interim Director of Finance to complete a 6-month contract. The post requires a CCAB qualified accountant capable of operating effectively in a challenging and changing environment, with a proven track record of success in managing and developing the Finance function.
 
This position commands an annualised salary of between £52,000 and £62,000 depending on experience.

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, you will be expected to contribute to the corporate governance of the organisation and influence future policy. In addition to having a strategic role as a member of the Board and the Senior Management Team, you will be responsible for the management of the accounting function and the development of effective financial policies and procedures. The IT and Procurement functions will also fall under your remit.  

Responsibilities include:

- Leadership of a large multi-disciplined team displaying strong people management skills and bringing a proven track record in delivering results.
- Preparation of the annual accounts in accordance with existing guidelines
- Provision of advice, information and expertise to management for spending reviews, budgets, financial and management accounting and audit
- Developing the budgeting process and ensuring the organisation works within spending limits
- Ensuring professional accounting standards and practice are maintained within the finance function
