Lovely Fluffy Kittens & Playpul Puppies Ready For Christmas
A KITTEN/PUPPY/BUNNY IS FOR 'LIFE' NOT JUST FOR CHRISTMAS
I despair at the number of adverts appearing offering cats/dogs and other animals that their owners can no longer look after, or don't want. A recent ad shows the dog is only 18 weeks old.
Excuses: I have to move, I have a new job, a new arrival, my children won't look after it now.
These animals do not deserve this treatment and never asked to be taken by someone who will not commit to looking after them for life.
ALL I ASK IS THAT YOU READ THE FOLLOWING IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING BUYING A PET: I HOPE THIS HELPS WITH YOUR DECISION:
If after reading this you can say yes to it all, then I wish you well in your future relationship with your pet and all happiness to your lifelong friend. The love you will get back is unconditional and wonderful.
BUT BEFORE YOU DECIDE:
1)
A fluffy kitten will be a full size CAT in just a few months. A little puppy is a full sized DOG in 6 months. If the novelty of a cute baby animal will change when this happens... ask yoursel;f do you really need a kitten of puppy?
2)
Puppies can be playful yet at up to and over a year later are boisterous, demanding, and often destructive, chewing, weeing and are a lot of hard work. Remember cats and dogs can live to over 18 YEARS OLD. What will you be doing in 10/15 years time? Will that involve taking your pet with you wherever you go no matter what?
3) They need FED and this COSTS. Twice a day, EVERY DAY. Think of what this will add to your weekly/monthly shopping bill.
4) They get SICK. They need to be Insured. If you can't afford that every month and you need a vet the COSTS ARE IMMENSE. Example, my cat was seven when I rescued him and I couldn't insure him for his illness. His cancer treatment was £3000 over eight months. A bad tooth out cost £180.
Did you think of this?
5) Children love baby animals but quickly tire of them and you get left to look after them. Think of how quickly a child opens a gift at Christmas only to toss it aside to reach for the next one? An animal has feelings. A fluffy teddy will cope!
6) If you might have to move and the next home does not allow pets, will you keep looking for a house where pets are accepted or do you choose your house over a pet? If so JUST DON'T GET A PET IN THE FIRST PLACE.
7) DO NOT BUY A PET AS A GIFT for someone who is not expecting it and doesn't want to keep it for life.
8) Don't buy a puppy or kitten when a teddy will do.
REMEMBER.. LIFE means LIFE.
Please think responsibly about the future, not just for now.
I hope this has helped in making your decision when you think about offering an animal a home.
Thank you for taking the time to read this message on behalf of all the unwanted and unloved animals.
