Eden Scott's Public Sector client has a requirement for an experienced developer with strong Visual Basic 6 expertise at an advanced level.

An important aspect of the post is the ability to be flexible with respect to the extensive user needs and a range of demands requiring a considerable skill set.

The client is currently undergoing a major change to its' business applications and technical platforms. These changes require a detailed understanding of current and future business requirements. The successful candidate will be expected to gain technical operational knowledge of both current and future application development.

Qualified to Degree level, or equivalent, in a relevant subject, with 5 years application analysis, design, development and support experience, you will possess a sound technical knowledge base with demonstrable experience of both Client Server and Web Based applications. Visual basic 6 experience at an advanced level with sound Crystal reports and Install Shield knowledge is essential. A minimum of 3 years experience in an Oracle, Microsoft SQL and Java environment would be beneficial. The need to communicate effectively and appropriately with a wide variety of staff at all levels makes excellent interpersonal skills a further essential prerequisite for this post.

The successful candidate will be expected to work to rigorous Quality Standards as is essential in this regulated environment and will be encouraged to contribute to the continuous improvement culture and delivery of an efficient Business IT development and support service.

A valid, clean driving license is essential, as occasional travel within Scotland may be required.
