I am a pianist looking to form a functions band with a twist: a group to play carefully selected classical repertory combined with popular music from the 20s and 30s (such as Cole Porter).

I am especially looking for:

a singer
a violinist
another string player
an upper wind/brass player (clarinet, flute, oboe, soprano/ alto sax, trumpet, cornet)
a double bass player or cellist
an acoustic guitarist/ukulele player
(instrumentalists should preferably be grade 8 standard and above)

Depending on who I can find, we'll arrange the music I have, and other material that can be brought to the table, as appropriate. I'm quite keen on tasteful arranging; for instance, I have a few ideas for arranging popular Debussy solo piano pieces. It will take a little time to set up and build up repertory, but I think the concept could work and could be marketed as something a bit different to the usual functions band/ string quartet. I've also thought of getting hold of period costume if it takes off...
