for sale is my 1990 klr650 tengai thumper (single cylinder)
dont let its age put you off.. its done 15000 miles approx (25000km)
and it starts first time every time on the button,

the tengai was kawasakis answer to the paris to dakar bikes.
its got a huge petrol tank and will happily do 70-80mph all day with out missing a beat
it has a showa rear shock with adjustable preload and dampening.

being a tall bike i also have shortening links (not fitted) but will come with the bike
it also has a top box with a key which is perfect for a few tools, or helmet

i also did the steering head bearings, as they were getting a bit notchy.
but are perfect now

it also has a laser produro exhaust, so it sounds like how a big single should,
not offensively loud, but loud enough that drivers know that you are there :D

the tengai is the perfect bike for light off road jaunts (being on the heavy side, its no motorcrosser) but it will chew through gravel roads with ease, and do trails and greenlaning.
its also extremely maneuverable so would be a perfect commuter for on road use.

all in all the tengai is a good bike and has been well maintained by myself and previous owners,
it works out that its done less than 1000 miles per year since new :D

it has a few cracks in the fairing ect but nothing worth crying about,
its a dual purpose bike after all so you have to expect these things

it has mot and tax, i have also just done the valve clearances and changed the offending shims, and given her a complete service.
(old shims come with the bike as spares)

newish oring chain is fitted

the bike is 33hp legal just....
its 33hp at the wheel, and about 42hp at the crank,
so if you ever get pulled over, you know that you are completely safe if they do a dyno test on it :D
its a insurance group 8 which makes for cheap insurance :D


the only reason im selling her, is because im heading back home to New Zealand, i wouldnt part with her otherwise.
