Edinburgh accounting / finance / banking
Accounts Dept Manager
Please note: At the outset this is a 16 hours per week role (complete flexi-time), gradually rising to four or five days per week over a number of years.
The Company:
We are a young founder-owned (1995) international energy news publishing company based in Edinburgh serving blue chip energy companies worldwide. We have a staff of 30 and approximately 50 writers in 30 countries. Our base is a bright modern open plan office in central Edinburgh.
The Job:
We are outgrowing our internal bookkeeping/accounting arrangements, and now need to gradually scale up our financial control to support our current business and allow for further sustained growth.
Initially the task is to take charge of and lead our very effective international invoicing and collections team of two, who send out 150 invoices a month to 60 countries and consistently achieve 33 day collection averages from our global customer base.
Over time (approximately the next four to five years) the role will expand to take on financial control of other aspects of the business, including payroll, accounts payable, cash control, travel budgets and international travel management, forecasting, operational analysis, ledgers, annual accounts, international and domestic tax, MIS development, acquisition analysis and integration, international payments, currency management, and high level strategy work.
We see the accounts team growing to a department of six over that period. In short, we want someone who can develop into the role of FC and then to CFO over a period of several years. We take a very long term view of the development of our business and of our people.
At the outset this is a 16 hpw role, with complete flexitime, located in central Edinburgh. The role will grow gradually to four or five days per week, with some travel (we have an office in Singapore and will have others elsewhere as we develop).
